The "Youth against illegal trade" Summer School was already the third summer school on intellectual property protection organized by the "BelBrand" Association (in 2017 and 2018, summer schools were held in Pinsk on the basis of Polessky State University).
This time, classes were organized at the Belarusian State University (BSU) in partnership with the BSU's Division of Customs' Affairs and intended for specialists from Belarusian enterprises, BSU's students studying the customs, trainees from the Belgorod State National Research University (Belgorod city, Russia), and activists of youth public organizations.
The school's aim is to improve the awareness of young people in the field of intellectual property protection and to form the behaviour of a responsible young consumer, who understands the value of intellectual property and respects producer's achievements.
The curriculum of the summer school included lectures and presentations by specialists from domestic and foreign enterprises, members of academic and scientific communities, as well as an excursion to and a theoretical class on the basis of OJSC "BelAZ", the leading Belarusian holding company for manufacture of open-pit dump trucks.
On September 27 (11:30-12:50 a.m.), the school held a sitting of the "BelBrand" Discussion Club and a solemn opening of the specialized class at the BSU's Department of International Relations entitled "Economic Security and Intellectual Property".
The invitees to the sitting were MPs of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and for Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade of the Republic of Belarus, employees of the Supreme Court, the General Prosecutor's Office, the State Customs Committee, the National Centre for Intellectual Property, the Court of the Eurasian Economic Union, and patent attorneys of the Republic of Belarus.
